Making its debut at Salone del Mobile 2024, the Alder collection is a groundbreaking collaboration between Danish green-tech design brand Mater and renowned Spanish architect and designer Patricia Urquiola.
Alder is fully biodegradable, achieved through Mater’s patented Matek® material technology, which blends post-consumer or industrial waste fibres with a binder to create a mouldable raw material. Each piece in the collection, including indoor and outdoor lounge tables, side tables and stools, is moulded using compression moulding technology, demonstrating Mater’s commitment to sustainability and innovative design. The Alder collection’s distinctive curvilinear, nature-inspired shapes are complemented by a 94% recycled steel base structure, ensuring strength and durability.
