The Figure have unveiled an upgraded version of the humanoid AI robot Figure 01, aptly named Figure 02. Released just 10 months after the original, Figure 02 builds on its predecessor’s capabilities as an all-round factory helper. The new model can now converse with human workers using speech-to-speech software integrated with microphones and speakers in its body. This version also has a visual language model powered by six RGB cameras, enabling it to understand and process both images and text.
Unlike the first version, Figure 02 has a self-correcting behaviour feature that allows it to learn from its mistakes and adjust its actions without human intervention. In addition, the robot’s appearance has been refined with a matte finish, enhancing its sleek design. Another significant upgrade is the 2.25 KWh custom battery pack, which provides up to 50% more power, extending the robot’s operating time.
Figure 02 was recently tested in a BMW production facility, demonstrating its advanced capabilities, collecting data and further refining its AI for improved performance in industrial environments.
