Paris Photo 2024

Paris Photo, established in 1997, stands as the world’s largest fair dedicated solely to photography, bringing the best of contemporary and modern photography to the Grand Palais Éphémère each November. This year’s fair runs from November 7th to 10th and showcases 240 exhibitors from 34 countries. As always, the Main Sector, featuring 147 galleries, unites prominent names with fresh talent and includes grand-format Prismes installations in the Grand Palais nave.

New this year is the Voices Sector, curated by Elena Navarro, Azu Nwagbogu, and Sonia Voss, which presents diverse perspectives and challenges conventional views on photography’s role and its archives. Another highlight, the Emergence Sector curated by Anna Planas, features 23 solo projects that push the boundaries of contemporary photography. The Digital Sector, curated by Nina Roehrs, focuses on the intersection of photography and digital media, highlighting cutting-edge works from 15 galleries.

Paris Photo also celebrates women photographers with Elles x Paris Photo, curated by Raphaëlle Stopin, which champions female artists through solo and group exhibitions. The Forms of Things exhibit, organized in collaboration with the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF) and the Lithuanian Photographers Association, showcases expressive Lithuanian photography from the 1960s to 1980s, highlighting nature, heritage, and existential themes.

Throughout the fair, visitors can enjoy panel discussions and artist talks, including one with filmmaker Jim Jarmusch on Surrealism’s influence on his work. Curated by Jarmusch, a surrealist-themed selection features iconic works by artists like Dora Maar, Zanele Muholi, and Peter Hujar, providing a glimpse into dreamlike and defiant artistic expressions. The fair concludes with the Paris Photo–Aperture Foundation PhotoBook Awards on November 8th, celebrating the best photobooks of the year.
