Shanghai’s historic Zhangyuan complex has been transformed into a dazzling celebration of art and heritage with Bulgari’s Serpenti Infinito exhibition, running from January 8th to February 16th, 2025. Timed perfectly to coincide with the Year of the Snake, the exhibition showcases Bulgari’s 75-year legacy of reimagining the serpent motif, blending luxury, art, and innovation.
The exhibition features 28 artworks by 19 international artists, with 11 pieces created exclusively for the event. Divided into three thematic chapters—Crafting Serpents in History, Snakes in the Arts, and Contemporary Transformations—the showcase captures the snake’s symbolic evolution across cultures and its enduring allure in Bulgari’s creations. Visitors can marvel at archival watches, unseen high jewelry masterpieces, and interactive installations that reveal the artistry behind Bulgari’s iconic Serpenti collection.
One standout is Refik Anadol’s Infinito: AI Data Sculpture, a groundbreaking 3D piece housed in a mirrored 360-degree room. Anadol trained an AI model on 70 years of Serpenti design archives, transforming the data into a dynamic, light-infused sculpture fabricated through robotic technology. The result is a mesmerizing interplay of light, form, and movement, embodying the infinite possibilities of Bulgari’s serpentine inspiration.
Another highlight is a series of Serpenti-themed artworks, including pieces by Daniel Rozin and Azza Al Qubaisi, which reinterpret the serpent as a timeless symbol of transformation and strength. Complementing the art, Bulgari artisans host on-site workshops, offering visitors a glimpse into the craftsmanship behind the Maison’s creations.
The opening night welcomed over 350 guests, including Bulgari CEO Jean-Christophe Babin, Italian Consul General Tiziana D’Angelo, and Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway, who dazzled in Serpenti jewels. The event underscored the snake’s cultural resonance, linking Bulgari’s design legacy with Shanghai’s rich heritage.
With Serpenti Infinito, Bulgari not only celebrates its history but also looks to the future, showcasing the transformative power of art, technology, and tradition.
