The Young Climate Prize 2025 celebrates emerging changemakers

The Young Climate Prize 2025 has unveiled its winners, celebrating a new generation of designers and activists tackling environmental challenges through innovation. Organized by The World Around, the biannual mentorship and awards program identifies promising changemakers under 25 and provides them with guidance from leading industry mentors. The winners will present their projects at The World Around Summit 2025 in New York, hosted in partnership with MoMA’s Emilio Ambasz Institute.

From a global cohort of 25 finalists, four young innovators were recognized for their groundbreaking contributions. Algerian designer Mohamed Salem Mohamed Ali developed The Nomad Garden, a resilient farming initiative utilizing sandponic and hydroponic techniques to combat food insecurity in refugee communities. Nigerian engineer Kenneth Uche created Smokeless Briqs Energy Solutions, a clean-energy stove that reduces indoor air pollution and generates electricity for off-grid homes. Amara Nwuneli, also from Nigeria, launched Preserve Our Roots, a youth-led movement transforming an underutilized urban space into a climate-conscious community park. Bolivian environmentalist Dayana Blanco Quiroga received the Jury Prize for her work restoring the polluted Uru Uru Lake using indigenous ecological practices.

The Young Climate Prize empowers young visionaries through mentorship, amplifying their ideas and turning them into impactful solutions. By fostering collaboration between emerging talent and established experts, the initiative continues to drive forward-thinking design in the fight against climate change. As these changemakers prepare to share their work on a global stage, their projects stand as a testament to the power of youth-led innovation in shaping a more sustainable future.
