Gianni Versace Retrospective opens in London with UK’s largest vintage display

This summer, fashion history arrives in the heart of the capital as the Gianni Versace Retrospective opens at Arches London Bridge from July 16th, 2025. This major cultural event offers an unparalleled opportunity to step into the dazzling world of the legendary Italian designer, bringing together over 450 original pieces in the most extensive Gianni Versace exhibition the UK has ever seen.

A Gianni Versace exhibition like no other

Curated as a celebration of Versace’s daring genius, the exhibition spans 21 seasons of his work, from 1988 to 1997, showcasing signature designs worn by icons including Princess Diana, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, and Sir Elton John. The show is a kaleidoscope of fashion, music, and pop culture, filled with vibrant looks, personal sketches, original runway videos, interviews, and rare accessories.

Curator Karl von der Ahe describes the London debut as “especially meaningful,” calling the city “a perfect stage to celebrate Gianni Versace’s revolutionary vision.”

Exploring the bold legacy of Gianni Versace’s style

At the heart of the retrospective is the designer’s fearless reinvention of glamour. The exhibition features several standout pieces that defined the Gianni Versace style. Among them:

  • A set of silk shirts owned by Elton John, a close friend of Versace, reflecting the designer’s love for theatrical elegance and flamboyant print.
  • Princess Diana’s sleek evening dresses, symbolizing her transformation and deep bond with the house of Versace during the 1990s.

Another highlight includes an installation focused on the birth of the supermodel era, spotlighting collaborations with Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell, whose campaigns with Versace helped redefine fashion photography and catwalk culture.

A cultural moment not to be missed

Beyond fashion, the Gianni Versace retrospective London experience captures the designer’s influence on identity, celebrity, and personal style. It invites visitors to reflect on how the aesthetics of 1990s Versace continue to resonate today — from social media trends to the rebirth of maximalist fashion.

As Liz Koravos, Managing Director of Arches London Bridge, puts it: “This is an opulent journey through the career of a true genius. Gianni Versace’s impact on art, music, and pop culture is as relevant today as ever.”

Tickets are now available for this landmark exhibition — an unmissable event for fashion lovers, cultural enthusiasts, and anyone fascinated by the timeless power of bold design.
