The loop by URB

URB, an urban planning and design firm, is developing The Loop, a 93-kilometre cycling highway that is planned to be built in Dubai.

The Loop is a new project that is included in Dubai’s 2040 urban masterplan. The construction itself will look like a long undulating tube embellished with modern design patterns. The floor inside will be engineered to be kinetic, so that energy can be produced as people step on it. The Loop will be divided into zones with cycleways and walking paths that will allow people to reach their destination in no more than 20 minutes. The route will also include a number of green spaces and amenities, such as recreational sports spaces, rest stops, and even vertical farms.

The Loop is designed to be a sustainable and efficient way to travel around Dubai. It is estimated that the project could shift people’s transport choices from cars to walking and cycling.

The Loop is still in the planning stages, but it has the potential to be a major transformation for Dubai, making the city more liveable and sustainable. More details and projects can be found on the URB website.
