On March 20th, 2026, Nike and Resident Advisor took over a Shoreditch warehouse in London for TRANSPORTAL, a hybrid installation and club event marking the launch of the new Air Liquid Max. Designed as more than a product presentation, the project merged sound, fashion, and spatial design into a single, immersive environment.
Tom Schneider’s installation: crafting the environment via the senses
Soft Infrastructure by scenographer Tom Schneider formed the core of the experience: an inflatable, buoyant landscape inspired by the cushioning of the Air Liquid Max sneaker. The installation dissolved conventional separations between audience, stage, and object.
Built as a shifting system of light, sound, and material, the environment invited visitors to move—or recline—across a continuous soft surface that unsettled orientation and sharpened sensory awareness. A central conversation pit eliminated hierarchy, fostering collective presence over passive observation.
From day to night, under the beat of fashion, art and music
The day-long programme unfolded in three interconnected phases. During the day, Tom Schneider’s installation was paired with a curated soundtrack by Crystallmess, and there was an END. pop-up offering early access to the Air Liquid Max. In the evening, Lea Ogunlami moderated a panel bringing together Schneider, Lauren Duffus and 3stacks to discuss the intersection of fashion, art and electronic music.
Later still, the venue transformed into a live club with performances by Evian Christ, Iglooghost, Angel D’Lite, Crystallmess and Duffus, accompanied by visual displays from Elliott Elder, AVVA.STUDIO, Itohan and 3stacks.
TRANSPORTAL reimagined the sneaker launch as a sensory ecosystem where products, architecture and culture converged.
