MEP Paris presents Camille Vivier’s haunting world between fashion and fiction

French artist Camille Vivier is the focus of a major exhibition at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie (MEP) in Paris, on view until September 13th, 2026. Featuring nearly 100 works spanning more than two decades, the show reveals why Camille Vivier has become one of the leading voices working between fine art photography and fashion.

Fine art photography meets fashion, cinema, and the uncanny

For more than twenty-five years, Camille Vivier has cultivated a singular visual language that bridges editorial photography and contemporary art. Shifting between fashion commissions and personal projects, she combines sensuality, mystery, and theatrical composition, examining the dialogue between the body, sculpture, still life, and nature.

Organised thematically rather than chronologically, the exhibition brings together around ten interconnected series. Gelatin silver prints, digital photographs, Polaroids, and newly created works reveal recurring themes of metamorphosis, hybrid forms, and meticulously composed scenes charged with cinematic intensity.

A world where bodies, objects, and stories shift shape

Female figures, sculptural objects, animals, and symbolic motifs drift between elegance and unease, drawing on surrealism, horror cinema, mythology, underground culture, and fashion photography.

Purpose-built sets, dramatic lighting, and vivid colour lend each image the atmosphere of a film still. Balancing beauty with ambiguity, the exhibition invites viewers into Camille Vivier’s singular universe, where fine art photography becomes a realm of fantasy, poetry, and ever-changing identities.
