The Jewish Museum is hosting the first museum exhibition to honor the visionary Jewish entrepreneur Gaby Aghion and her legacy as founder of the French fashion house Chloé.
The exhibition Mood of the Moment: Gaby Aghion and the House of Chloé sheds new light on Chloé’s 70-year history. With nearly 150 garments, never-before-seen sketches and archival documents, the exhibition reveals Aghion’s vision of effortless and luxurious fashion. It also highlights the contributions of iconic designers such as Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney and Phoebe Philo, who launched their careers with the brand. Aghion’s pioneering work in freeing women’s bodies from societal restrictions and her role in pioneering luxury ready-to-wear is prominently featured. The exhibition captures the current mood by celebrating Aghion’s ability to create a fashion brand known for its simple elegance.
The exhibition will be on show until the 18th of February 2024. For more information, visit the Jewish Museum website.
