The latest Hublot MP-15 watch by Takashi Murakami features the artist’s signature floral motif, crafted entirely in sapphire. This collaboration is a continuation of previous releases of the vibrant, jewelled MP-15 and the Ceramic series. Breaking with traditional watchmaking, the Hublot MP-15 Takashi Murakami Tourbillon Sapphire integrates the case, movement and dial, moving away from the traditional separation of the dial as the face of the watch.
The complication is located in the traditional place on the dial, with the hands positioned on the periphery. At the heart of the design is Hublot’s first series-produced central flying tourbillon, a creation unlike anything the Manufacture has developed in its four-decade history.
This centerpiece is surrounded by Takashi Murakami’s famous motif, a 12-petalled flower made entirely of sapphire. The flower is characterized by graceful curves and considerable volume. Hublot aimed to achieve total transparency to enhance the luminosity of the MP-15: sapphire case, sapphire case-back, sapphire crown, translucent flange and bracelet. Sunlight will not only shine on this floral masterpiece but will also pass seamlessly through it, illuminating its contours and reliefs.
