Architect Jordan William Hughes envisions a groundbreaking space elevator design that offers an innovative alternative to conventional space travel. Based on established research in physics and engineering, Hughes proposes a system in which an ocean-based spaceport is connected to a multipurpose space station by a robust tether anchored to a captured asteroid in geostationary orbit. This conceptual space elevator would facilitate the efficient movement of drones carrying people and cargo between the spaceport at sea level and the space station located over 26,000 kilometers above Earth.
