Gagosian presents Iconic Avedon: A Centennial Celebration of Richard Avedon in Paris from 22 January to 2 March 2024, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the photographer’s birth. Renowned for his influential style, Avedon’s impact on culture will be highlighted through iconic photographs that capture the essence of his subjects, from legendary figures to lesser-known individuals. Avedon’s portraits, including those of Marilyn Monroe, Bob Dylan and Jacqueline Kennedy, demonstrate his unparalleled ability to immortalize the vitality and essence of his subjects, cementing his legacy as the creator of timeless icons.

Iconic Avedon premieres during Paris Haute Couture Week 2024, highlighting Avedon’s influence since 1947. Working with Christian Dior, he redefined modern fashion and rejuvenated post-war Paris. With famous images such as Dovima with Elephants and portraits of Brigitte Bardot, the exhibition reveals Avedon’s innovative style.
