On 20 February 2024, Balenciaga officially launches a multifaceted collaboration with the renowned American composer and arranger Angelo Badalamenti. This collaboration, which began in May 2020 before Badalamenti’s death, is presented as a tribute in his honour. It is being developed in collaboration with his alma mater, the Manhattan School of Music, and his daughter, Danielle Badalamenti.
An exclusive playlist curated by Badalamenti himself, featuring a collection of his own compositions, is available for streaming or download as part of the Balenciaga Music Series. The playlist, series and campaign also unveil a collaboration with the Manhattan School of Music, where Badalamenti received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Dr Reiko Fueting, Head of the Composition Department, is also part of the collaboration. This partnership pays tribute to Badalamenti while educating students about his significant body of work.
