A new exhibition at the Fondation Azzedine Alaïa in Paris brings together the works of Madame Grès and Azzedine Alaïa. The exhibition, titled Alaïa/Grès: Beyond Fashion, explores the shared principles that informed their work, including their mastery of cut and drape, their use of luxurious fabrics, and their commitment to creating timeless garments.
On view from September 11, 2023, to February 11, 2024, the exhibition features 60 exceptional pieces by the two designers, including evening gowns and day dresses. The pieces are grouped by cutting technique, fabric combination, or colour, highlighting the similarities and differences in their approach to fashion.
The Alaïa/Grès: Beyond Fashion exhibition is a unique opportunity to see the work of two of the most important couturiers of the 20th century side by side. The exhibition offers a fascinating insight into their creative process and their shared passion for creating timeless and elegant clothes.
