Biophilia

The Denver Art Museum presents Biophilia: Nature Reimagined, an evocative exhibition on view through August 11th, 2024. Curated by Darrin Alfred, the project explores the intricate relationship between humans and nature, a concept popularised by American biologist Edward O. Wilson. Wilson’s theory of biophilia suggests that humans are inherently connected to the natural world.

Biophilia: Nature Reimagined features over 80 imaginative works, including architectural models, photographs, fashion, digital installations and immersive art experiences. Created by renowned international designers and artists such as Iris van Herpen, Studio Drift, Nacho Carbonell, Studio Gang and teamLab, these works highlight the transformative power of nature.

Exploring themes such as Natural Analogs, Natural Systems and Topophilia, the works on display demonstrate how contemporary art and design can nurture our connection with nature. This collection is not intended to replace the real experience of nature, but to inspire a deeper appreciation and awareness of the environment. The exhibition encourages visitors to consider their place in the natural world and the importance of preserving it for future generations.
