Bode reconstructs the soul of fashion

For Fall Winter 2025, Bode introduces The Expressionist — a collection presented in miniature, styled on handcrafted dolls and set within four bespoke dioramas by artist Lukas Geronimas. Rather than relying on digital renders or generative AI, the brand crafted tiny garments using single-ply yarns, microbeads, and hand-painted graphics to faithfully recreate each look at a 1:6 scale. This analog approach forms a striking contrast to the fashion industry’s growing flirtation with synthetic imagery.

The collection takes its name from a forgotten musical by composer Morris “Moose” Charlap and lyricist Eddie Lawrence, tracing the life of a painter across Paris, New York, and Pennsylvania. Eveningwear evokes opera nights with dramatic collars and regal trims, while casual styles — like patchwork jackets and graphic tees — appear in scenes reminiscent of a working art studio. Across 80 storyboarded images, Bode reimagines the lookbook as a poetic visual tale.

Although the brand makes no direct reference to AI, some viewers speculated online whether the campaign was AI-generated. In a fashion era increasingly shaped by code, Bode offers a quiet, handcrafted refusal.
