Celebration of Silverwork

The Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris presents Christofle, A Brilliant Story, a landmark exhibition running from November 14th, 2024, to April 20th, 2025. This first-ever monographic exhibition dedicated to the prestigious French silverware house explores nearly two centuries of craftsmanship, from the company’s foundation in 1830 to its contemporary creations. The show showcases over 600 pieces of silver and goldwork, including tableware, monumental objects, jewelry, and decorative arts, highlighting Christofle’s pivotal role in the history of French design.

The exhibition traces Christofle’s evolution from producing luxurious everyday objects to becoming a symbol of artistic and political power. One of the standout works is a Mirror Object coffee cup, designed by Ramdane Touhami in 2022, which reimagines functional design with a modern twist. Visitors can also see how Christofle has continued to innovate, with pieces like a condom box created by ECAL and Erik de Laurens, which pushes the boundaries of traditional silverware.

The immersive exhibition layout contrasts the house’s classic craftsmanship with contemporary creations, providing a comprehensive view of Christofle’s artistic contributions. Sections dedicated to iconic collaborations with designers such as Gio Ponti, Andrée Putman, and Karl Lagerfeld further emphasize the brand’s ongoing influence on global design.

With a mix of classic and modern design, Christofle, A Brilliant Story offers a unique opportunity to explore the rich history and ongoing legacy of one of the most celebrated names in French luxury.
