The CCN Ballet national de Marseille opens its doors from May 2nd to 5th, 2024 for a sale of stage costumes and accessories from major productions in its repertoire. Following in the footsteps of major institutions such as the Opéra de Paris and the Comédie française, the BNM is making part of its living heritage visible and accessible, from the major productions in its repertoire, from Roland Petit to (LA)HORDE.

This (LA)HORDE initiative continues the Danser l’image exhibition presented last season at the CNCS in Moulins and the publication of the book of the same name, which celebrates 50 years of contemporary creation as an open archive.

Most of the costumes on display are those of duplicate characters, at risk of deterioration, and of lesser heritage value. Profits from the exhibition will be used to continue and develop BNM’s support for artists in the South of France. Many donations will also be made to associations.

Pourpoints, satin dresses, wigs, patent shoes, boas, headdresses, pumps, masks, leotards, booties, bodices, jumpsuits, belts, tutus… From classical to contemporary, from formal to sportswear, this is an exceptional opportunity to discover the outfits worn on stage by the company’s dancers and to give them a second life!

Costume, fashion, clothing: history and evolution of the costumes of the National Ballet of Marseille discussion with (LA)HORDE, co-directors of the BNM, Nicole Murru, costume designer of the BNM, Mathieu Buard, curator of the CNCS exhibition Dancing the image will take place on Saturday 4 May at 4 pm.

De costumes & accessoires will take place on 1st May from 2 to 8 pm, on 2nd and 3rd May from 2 to 8 pm, on and on 5th May from 12 to 5 pm.
