Dior’s new documentary explores feminist collaborations

Dior is set to premiere Her Dior — Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Collaborations With Women Artists, a documentary by Loïc Prigent, on March 8th via its YouTube channel, coinciding with International Women’s Day. A preview screening will take place on March 6th during Paris Fashion Week. The 70-minute film highlights Chiuri’s work with feminist artists, photographers, and writers who have shaped her collections and show designs. Featured collaborators include Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, whose essay We Should All Be Feminists inspired Dior’s iconic 2016 statement T-shirt, and Judy Chicago, known for her striking feminist installations. Prigent also revisits the fall 2020 show, where art collective Claire Fontaine’s neon signs flashed the word “consent” just after Harvey Weinstein’s conviction. Another key moment is the cruise 2024 finale in Mexico City, where Chiuri partnered with Elina Chauvet to create dresses addressing violence against women.

Prigent, who had previously covered Chiuri’s work in his fashion roundups, uses the documentary to provide a deeper, more reflective perspective on her impact. “She has changed the way I look at the world,” he says in a comment for WWD, emphasizing how Chiuri’s vision extends far beyond fashion.
