The New Murabba project in Riyadh is rapidly advancing towards its goal of creating the world’s largest modern downtown, spearheaded by the Public Investment Fund as part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. The centerpiece of this transformative project is the Mukaab, a cube-shaped skyscraper set to rise 400 meters tall, housing a vast range of facilities from luxury hotels to immersive digital experiences. Architecturally inspired by the Najd region, the Mukaab reflects Saudi heritage with its modern, overlapping triangular forms.
The development spans two million square meters, featuring residential, cultural, and commercial spaces designed to create a vibrant, sustainable urban center. With plans to include over 104,000 housing units and more than 620,000 square meters of leisure spaces, New Murabba aims to position Riyadh as a global leader in urban innovation. Inside the Mukaab, cutting-edge virtual reality screens will create immersive environments, allowing visitors to experience distant landscapes, adding a unique twist to modern hospitality.
To accommodate construction, over 10 million cubic meters of earth have been excavated, and a temporary bridge over King Khalid Road is reducing disruption by significantly lowering truck movements on local roads. Once completed, New Murabba is expected to support Saudi Arabia’s economy by generating over 330,000 jobs and significantly contributing to the country’s non-oil GDP.
