Excelsior capsule

Excelsior capsule

After more than a decade of work, Space Perspective has completed the construction of the Excelsior capsule. It is described as the world’s largest space test capsule, along with the first SpaceBalloon and the near-completed Marine Spaceport Voyager launch vehicle. Excelsior is part of the Neptune spacecraft. It will carry eight passengers and a captain on a six-hour journey into space. The luxury experience includes a space lounge, gourmet dining, plush seating, luxurious amenities, and a space spa – all without the use of heavy G-forces or rockets.

Space Perspective’s Excelsior capsule is spherical, creating a spacious cabin for passengers and captain. Vertical portholes provide a panoramic view, avoiding the distortion that horizontal portholes can cause due to stereoscopic vision. The windows protect passengers from harmful sunlight and regulate the temperature inside the capsule without obstructing the view of the stars and Earth.

Commercial spaceflight is planned for 2025, subject to successful test flights.
