LVMH Prize 2025 crowns a new generation fashion designers in Paris

The LVMH Prize 2025 has officially unveiled its winners in Paris, spotlighting a new generation of fashion designers who are reshaping the industry with bold visions and singular craft. This year’s edition once again reinforced the prize’s role as a launchpad for creative voices redefining what fashion can be.

Soshi Otsuki wins the LVMH Prize 2025

Japanese designer Soshi Otsuki took home the main award for his brand Soshiotsuki, celebrated for its modern take on tailoring. Drawing inspiration from both Japanese heritage and Western menswear traditions, his sharp yet fluid suiting reimagines the codes set in place by past masters while speaking to the present moment. Otsuki’s ability to blend cultural narratives with subtle, unexpected details impressed the jury of industry power players, including Phoebe Philo, Pharrell Williams, Stella McCartney, Jonathan Anderson, and Sarah Burton.

Along with the recognition, Otsuki receives a €400,000 endowment and a year-long mentorship from the LVMH group, a support system that has helped past winners such as Grace Wales Bonner and Nensi Dojaka build international profiles.

Steve O Smith awarded the Karl Lagerfeld Prize

London-based designer Steve O Smith was named the recipient of the Karl Lagerfeld Prize. Since launching his label in 2022, Smith has been turning heads with garments that translate his own drawings into fabric appliqués, a process he describes as making “clothes that are drawings in their own right.” His work, already spotted on Hollywood stars like Hunter Schafer, balances artistry with wearability, offering a new interpretation of clothing as living sketches.

The Karl Lagerfeld Prize grants him €200,000 and an LVMH mentorship, providing a significant platform to expand his imaginative practice.

Step inside the world of Steve O. Smith, where sketches become silhouettes and garments blur the line between art and fashion. In our conversation, he reflects on the fine art roots of his process, the challenges of translating drawings into fabric, and the inspirations shaping his latest collection.

Honoring craft: Torishéju Dumi wins the Savoir-Faire Prize

This year’s Savoir-Faire Prize went to British-Nigerian-Brazilian designer Torishéju Dumi, who reimagines historic garments such as petticoats, bloomers, and coattails with a distinctly modern sensibility. Her approach demonstrates how historical silhouettes can be transformed into contemporary statements, underscoring the importance of craft as much as concept.

A new chapter for fashion’s future

By recognizing Soshi Otsuki, Steve O Smith, and Torishéju Dumi, the LVMH Prize 2025 signals the arrival of a diverse and dynamic generation of designers. Their distinct approaches—whether through tailoring, illustration-driven fashion, or historical reinterpretation—reflect a global industry increasingly defined by individuality and cultural exchange.
