The Vatican Observatory will soon host the Second International Conference celebrating the legacy of the Belgian physicist and priest, Mgr Georges Lemaître. The event will be held in Castel Gandolfo from June 17th to 21st, focusing on black holes, gravitational waves and space-time singularities – areas of research pioneered by Lemaître.
Building on the insights of the first meeting in 2017, the event aims to explore the latest developments in cosmology, quantum gravity and the foundations of quantum theory. Notable participants include Nobel laureates Adam Riess and Roger Penrose, as well as cosmologists and theoretical physicists Andrei Linde and Wendy Freedman. The conference will provide a platform for leading scientists to discuss and share new ideas and discoveries.
This meeting highlights the Vatican Observatory’s ongoing commitment to the advancement of astronomical research and its historical legacy dating back to 1582. Join us for an inspiring journey into the mysteries of the universe.
