At Museo Lázaro Galdiano in Madrid, Talia Chetrit presents Bunny (6 June – 30 August 2026), her first institutional solo show in Spain. Curated by Stella Bottai and supported by the LOEWE Foundation, the exhibition probes photography as document and performance, where certainty continually slips. Tracing nearly thirty years of image-making, Bunny reads less as a retrospective than a staged visual conversation, moving between portrait, still life, and constructed tableau.
A curatorial language of collision and continuity
Past and present works sit in charged proximity, generating unexpected echoes across time. Images from different periods enter into dialogue, loosening linear interpretation.
Earlier photographs gain new inflections, while recent works revisit familiar gestures. Meaning remains in flux, shaped by shifting context rather than fixed narrative.
Theatricality, intimacy, and the unstable image
Across Bunny, youth, erotic charge, and parenthood recur as staged yet fragile motifs. Family, friends, and the artist herself appear within tightly composed scenes that hover between exposure and control.
Chetrit’s imagery resists resolution: what looks direct quickly turns ambiguous, leaving uncertainty around staging and spontaneity. This tension defines her visual language, where exposure and restraint coexist within the same frame.
Presented by LOEWE and the LOEWE Foundation, Bunny marks Chetrit’s first major institutional solo exhibition in Spain. Running alongside PHotoESPAÑA 2026, it situates her work within a broader cultural field bridging contemporary photography and institutional visibility.
