3DaysOfDesign 2026 returns to Copenhagen with a call to make this moment matter

From June 10th to 12th, 2026, Copenhagen once again becomes the centre of the international design conversation as 3DaysOfDesign returns with a citywide programme of exhibitions, installations, talks, and creative exchanges. Guided by the theme Make This Moment Matter, this year’s festival encourages visitors to consider the impact of purposeful design and the responsibility that comes with creating for the future.

Honouring Denmark’s design heritage while embracing fresh perspectives, 3DaysOfDesign spreads across eight curated Design Districts, turning the city into a living showcase where craftsmanship, innovation, and community intersect.

Danish design and the power of purpose

This year’s theme invites designers and audiences to focus on the present as a space for action. Instead of looking only to the past or projecting endlessly into the future, the festival poses a direct question: what can design contribute today?

As Signe Byrdal Terenziani, CEO and Managing Director of 3DaysOfDesign, explains:

“Make This Moment Matter is a positive form of empowerment, urging people to create something with a purpose that’s meaningful. As a design community, we have the wherewithal to make a difference. We have each other. It takes courage to create, and I hope Make This Moment Matter gives designers the impetus to be proactive, and to take action without all the answers.”

The theme is accompanied by a new visual identity created by Copenhagen-based collective On Display. Combining a black lily with an Origami Teller, the imagery creates a poetic tension between contemplation and action, permanence and possibility.

The future of design across Copenhagen’s eight districts

A defining feature of 3DaysOfDesign is its network of Design Districts, each with its own architectural character and cultural atmosphere.

Islands Brygge: Once an industrial harbour, Islands Brygge has evolved into a lively waterfront neighbourhood where former warehouses sit alongside contemporary architecture and vibrant public spaces.

Christianshavn: Famed for its canals and maritime heritage, Christianshavn remains deeply rooted in centuries of craftsmanship, trade, and urban life.

Holmen: Formerly a naval base, Holmen has become one of Copenhagen’s most dynamic creative quarters, home to cultural institutions, design brands, and the Royal Danish Academy.

Frederiksstaden: Defined by elegant Rococo architecture, Frederiksstaden offers a refined setting where royal history and exceptional craftsmanship continue to shape the city’s identity.

Kongens Nytorv: One of Copenhagen’s grandest public squares, Kongens Nytorv connects historic landmarks, theatres, and cultural institutions at the heart of the city.

Rosengård: Situated in Copenhagen’s historic centre, Rosengård reflects the city’s journey from medieval stronghold to contemporary European capital.

Nordhavn: Among Europe’s most ambitious waterfront developments, Nordhavn has turned former port infrastructure into a forward-looking district guided by sustainability and accessibility.

Kultur District: Home to museums, gardens, and cultural institutions, the Kultur District demonstrates how heritage continues to inspire contemporary creativity.

Festival highlights

Marc Phillips Rugs debuts in Copenhagen

Making its first appearance at 3DaysOfDesign, Marc Phillips Rugs presents FIELD STUDIES, a collaboration with Los Angeles-based designer Jamie Bush at Other Circle. Inspired by aerial views of cultivated landscapes, the collection translates painterly compositions into richly textured rugs crafted from silk, wool, hemp, and allo. Displayed among hay bales inside The Lab, the installation explores the meeting point of art, architecture, and craft.

Kast introduces new concrete colours

British design studio Kast makes its Copenhagen debut at Material Matters with an expanded palette featuring Espresso, Oat, and Olive. The presentation includes the award-winning Orme pedestal basin alongside miniature editions of the Tilde basin, revealing the surprising elegance and versatility of concrete.

Fredericia celebrates a legacy of Danish design

At its Copenhagen showroom, Fredericia presents A Chronicle of Danish Design, bringing its acclaimed Triennale Milano exhibition home. The presentation traces more than a century of furniture design while introducing new pieces by Cecilie Manz and the reissue of Nanna Ditzel’s visionary Trisse Collection.

Palet and Hart Bageri collaborate Again

Returning to Other Circle for a second year, Dutch tile studio Palet partners with Hart Bageri on a welcoming installation that combines material experimentation with the warmth of Copenhagen’s local culture.

A citywide celebration of design

Beyond exhibitions and product launches, six festival i-Points will serve as gathering hubs where visitors can connect, plan their routes, and join guided Design Walks across the city.

As Copenhagen opens its streets, galleries, showrooms, and historic landmarks to the global creative community, 3DaysOfDesign 2026 offers far more than a showcase of new products. It presents a vision of design rooted in purpose, craftsmanship, sustainability, and human connection—reminding us that the future is shaped not by grand declarations, but by the choices we make today.
