Exploration of movement

Exploration of movement

Known for his immersive artworks, Olafur Eliasson first discovered his passion for movement through street dance. It allowed him to explore the body’s relationship with the world around it. A spontaneous dance in a Berlin restaurant introduced this aspect of his art to Peggy Gou, the South Korean electronic music icon and his friend, leading to a most unlikely collaboration.

Eliasson’s involvement in Gou’s debut album, I Hear You, is extensive. The artist’s creation, the Psychoacoustic Empathy Amp (2023), features prominently on the album cover, with Gou wearing mirrored earpieces that reflect her ears in a ring-like pattern. This aural sculpture explores sound reception and brain interpretation.
