Bio-Spaces is an innovative exhibition curated by Planted, the eco-focused media and events platform, in collaboration with Oliver Heath Design Studio, taking place at Roca London Gallery. At the heart of the exhibition is the concept of biophilic design, which emphasises the integration of natural elements into the built environment to enhance human well-being and connection with nature. Bio-Spaces explores various aspects of design, including biodiversity, biomimicry, biomorphic design, bio-based materials and bioregenerative design.
One of the highlights of the exhibition is Mamou-Mani’s digitally designed architecture, inspired by botanical genetic coding to create stunning parametric forms. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore groundbreaking projects such as the 2018 Temple Galaxia, designed to be consumed by fire at the Burning Man Festival, showcasing the fusion of art, architecture and nature.
Alongside architectural advances, Bio-Spaces highlights collaborations with brands such as LESTRANGE, where Oliver Heath Design Studio created nature-inspired guidelines for retail spaces, which were later implemented by Fred Rigby Studio using eco-friendly materials. The exhibition also features notable products from designers such as Benchmark, whose AYA collection prioritises air quality with FSC-grown ash and low-VOC oils. Another section focuses on bio-based materials, including hemp panels by Erthly and mycelium insulation by Biohm, showcasing natural alternatives for sustainable design.
The exhibition runs from April 19th to September 30th, 2024. For more information, visit the Roca London Gallery website.
