The Zurich University of the Arts programme includes projects that promote environmental education through material interaction and innovative approaches to recycling and digital data preservation. One notable project, Corallum – Life Under Water, is the result of this comprehensive university programme.
Created by Emilia Lendi in collaboration with rrreefs, the project addresses the pressing issue of coral mortality due to climate change, which threatens marine ecosystems and human livelihoods. Corallum aims to improve artificial reefs by providing an ideal base for coral growth and ensuring a permanent habitat for them. This module not only supports coral growth but also provides a sustainable solution for coral restoration. The innovative design could be used globally to help revive damaged coral reefs and protect marine biodiversity.
