Miss Dior: Stories of a Miss is an exhibition at the Roppongi Museum in Tokyo that explores the 78-year history of the iconic perfume and takes visitors through seven rooms, each showcasing a different aspect of Miss Dior. From archival artefacts to modern creations, from couture to ready-to-wear, the show highlights the inspirations and collaborations that have shaped Miss Dior’s cultural impact.
Shohei Shigematsu, Partner at OMA, designed the exhibition space to capture the essence of the fragrance through a blend of history and modernity. The exhibition features works such as Muholi’s self-portraits, bronze sculptures and the new Miss Dior perfume bottle, which rotates 360 degrees.
One section, Miss Dior by Eva Jospin, is a classical domed room displaying intricate tapestries and a special edition of the perfume. Another room, Fields of Flowers, immerses visitors in the scents of the latest Miss Dior perfume with life-size atomisers in the shape of flower buds. The Stories of a Miss section uses double-sided display cases to tell the story of Miss Dior, while Miss Dior: The Birth of Ready-to-Wear showcases the 1967 ready-to-wear collection. Dior Illustrated features artwork by René Gruau and Mats Gustafson, Dior’s original and current illustrators. The exhibition also includes a boutique, a virtual museum and a café serving exclusive desserts created by Pierre Hermé.
Miss Dior: Stories of a Miss runs until July 15th, 2024. For more information, visit the Roppongi Museum website.
