Preserving the Brain: A Call to Action initiative will take place at the Fondazione Prada in Milan from October 16th, 2024 to April 7th, 2025. This new edition focuses on the importance of prevention and early treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s, Parkinson’s, ALS and multiple sclerosis. Organised in partnership with fifteen renowned neuroscience institutes and five Italian patient organisations, the project aims to foster dialogue between the scientific and public communities.
The initiative will include a scientific conference on October 16th-17th, 2024 and an accompanying exhibition with a series of lectures until April 7th, 2025. Leading researchers, academics, patient groups and institutional representatives are invited to participate. The exhibition, which will be presented in the Nord gallery, will be divided into eight sections, exploring primary and secondary prevention strategies and their impact on neurodegenerative diseases. The conference will be held at the Cinema Godard and will include thematic sessions on epidemiology, environmental pollution, nutrition, sleep, protective factors, genes, brain plasticity and secondary prevention. Access to the conference is by reservation, with an online streaming option available.
Miuccia Prada, President and Director of Fondazione Prada, underlined the need for the strengthening of the dialogue between the scientific world and the public, especially the younger generations. Giancarlo Comi, Honorary Professor of Neurology at the Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele, Milan and President of the scientific committee of Preserving the Brain, highlighted the role of prevention in reducing the impact of these diseases.
Preserving the Brain: A Call to Action continues the legacy of the programme, which previously focused on the complexity of neurodegenerative illnesses and their genetic and environmental roots. For further information, please visit the Fondazione Prada website.
