Saudi Arabia has unveiled plans for the futuristic Neom Stadium, a ground-breaking venue that will host the 2034 World Cup. Unveiled as part of Saudi Arabia’s official World Cup bid, the Neom Stadium will be a 46,000-seat venue built 350 metres above the ground, making it the most unique stadium in the world. This innovative arena will be located on The Line, part of the ambitious Neom mega-city project, and will feature advanced technology including e-ticket gates and 4K Ultra HD broadcasting.
One of the standout features of the Neom Stadium is its pitch, which will offer stunning views and a roof that blends seamlessly into the cityscape. After the World Cup, the stadium will be home to a professional football club and a key element of the city’s sports and active lifestyle programme. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027 and is expected to be completed by 2032.
In addition to Neom Stadium, Saudi Arabia’s 2034 World Cup bid includes the construction of 15 stadiums in five host cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, Al Khobar, Abha and Neom. Notable stadiums include the 92,000-seat King Salman International Stadium in Riyadh, designed by Populous, and the cliffside Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium in Qiddiya, also by Populous. The New Murabba Stadium in Riyadh, inspired by the bark of an acacia tree, and the Roshn Stadium, which resembles crystal-like shards, are among the other venues planned for the tournament.
As well as showcasing cutting-edge architectural design, these stadiums will underline Saudi Arabia’s commitment to creating a fairer and more sustainable future. The 2034 World Cup will be a transformative event for the country, with a focus on technological innovation and cultural celebration.
