Shaping the future of fashion

LVMH has teamed up with upcycling pioneer Kevin Germanier to launch Prélude, their first-ever upcycled fashion collection. This groundbreaking collection emphasizes sustainability by reusing unsold products from major fashion houses and fabric scraps from Nona Source and weturn (a start-up awarded a LVMH Innovation Award in 2022). The goal of Prélude is to create commercially desirable pieces while maintaining the anonymity of the original items, transforming them into unique, innovative designs.

Launched during LVMH’s LIFE 360 Summit, Prélude demonstrates the group’s dedication to circular fashion. Under Germanier’s creative direction, the collection pushes the boundaries of raw materials by employing techniques like strip-cutting, re-knitting, and crochet to develop entirely new textiles.

With its back-to-basics approach, the collection focuses on crafting garments from single threads or strips of fabric, aiming for harmony, excellence, and a new level of creativity. Prélude not only sets the stage for future sustainable creations but also redefines the fashion industry’s approach to design and production. This marks a significant step toward more responsible and innovative fashion, with plans for future upcycling initiatives, including materials from the Paris 2024 Olympics.
