To mark the 10th anniversary of SLEEP, acclaimed composer Max Richter will present two Max Richter SLEEP concerts at Alexandra Palace North London on September 5th and 6th, 2025. These performances—the largest live renditions of SLEEP to date—will be Richter’s first in London since 2017, offering audiences a rare chance to experience this groundbreaking composition as a full-scale, overnight event.
Max Richter SLEEP concert was first released in 2015 and created with visual artist Yulia Mahr. It runs for 8½ hours and is designed to be heard while sleeping, using subsonic frequencies and minimal repetition to explore how music interacts with the unconscious. The work has been performed as a live sleep ritual at extraordinary venues around the world, from the Sydney Opera House to the Great Wall of China.
The upcoming Max Richter SLEEP concerts at Alexandra Palace North London mark a homecoming and evolution. To accompany these performances, Richter will release a new album, Sleep Circle, on September 5th. Inspired by the liminal space between waking and dreaming, the record condenses SLEEP into a 90-minute journey—mirroring a full REM cycle. Its first single, Dream 11 / Moth-Like Stars Pt.2, is already streaming.
With over 2.2 billion streams, SLEEP remains a genre-defying phenomenon—blending ambient composition with neuroscience and ritual. These Max Richter SLEEP concerts at Alexandra Palace North London reaffirm its status as a cultural landmark.
