The new Walter Van Beirendonck Autumn/Winter 2025–2026 installation, We Come in Peace, has just arrived at Dover Street Market PARIS. The concept transforms the retail space into a playful universe where fashion, design, and cosmic imagination collide. At its heart is the ALIEN fauteuil, a boldly colored chair inspired by the cosmos and surreal forms, blurring the line between furniture and fashion. Van Beirendonck described the piece as more than a chair, suggesting it acts as a portal to childlike wonder and imaginative journeys.
Crafted in collaboration with Artisans-X, the fauteuil is produced in a limited run of 300 numbered pieces, each carrying a certificate of authenticity. The installation also features sculptural hats created by milliner Stephen Jones and mannequins by Hans Boodt, amplifying the otherworldly atmosphere. Together, these elements capture Van Beirendonck’s signature mix of vibrancy, provocation, and storytelling, making Dover Street Market PARIS the stage for a truly extraterrestrial vision.
Step inside our conversation with Walter Van Beirendonck as he reflects on the origins of the Antwerp Six, the power of fashion as activism, and how masculinity continues to evolve in his work.
