Paris continues to lead the global conversation around fashion exhibitions, with the upcoming Gianni Versace retrospective set to open at the Musée Maillol from June 5th to September 6th, 2026. The exhibition is dedicated to the enduring legacy of Gianni Versace and marks the museum’s first fashion-focused show.
A must-see landmark on the map of Paris’s fashion events
Curated as a comprehensive tribute, the Gianni Versace retrospective will present almost 450 pieces, offering an immersive insight into the designer’s life, influences and cultural impact. Tracking Versace’s journey from his Calabria upbringing to his ascent as one of fashion’s most flamboyant and influential figures, the exhibition also reflects on the social context of his era, including the emergence of the supermodel and his close relationships with music icons such as Madonna, Elton John, and Prince.
Conceived by Nathalie Crinière, the scenography adopts a bold pop art approach, transforming the museum into a dynamic runway-like environment that mirrors Versace’s signature sense of drama and excess.
From international tour to Paris debut
Initiated by Dreamrealizer, the Gianni Versace retrospective follows a series of successful presentations across Europe, including stops in Groningen, London and Málaga. Now arriving in Paris, the exhibition cements the city’s status as a leading destination for major fashion exhibitions while reconnecting with Versace’s history in the French capital. He first presented his haute couture collections at the Ritz in 1989.
Inside the archive: 450 works on display
This extensive exhibition brings together iconic garments and accessories, sketches, photographs, decorative objects and rare video interviews. Highlights include the emblematic silhouettes that defined Versace’s baroque and sensual aesthetic, alongside archival imagery captured by renowned photographers, as well as footage documenting his legendary runway shows.
