Created especially for Milan Design Week 2026, Laila Gohar presents a playful, immersive installation to celebrate her collaboration with Arket. Staged from April 20th to 23rd, 2026 at Giardino delle Arti, the project takes the form of a reimagined carousel—part sculpture, part scenographic device—announcing the debut of the brand’s new collection.
Drawing on the structure of a late 18th-century fairground ride, the installation replaces traditional figures with oversized fruits and vegetables. Enlarged to monumental scale, these familiar forms are subtly cut to accommodate seating, encouraging interaction and shared use. The composition balances the recognisable with the uncanny, extending Gohar’s ongoing interest in transforming everyday materials through a distinctly theatrical sensibility.
The new Arket collection in collaboration with Laila Gohar
The installation coincides with the release of her first ready-to-wear line for Arket—a 27-piece collection launched on April 21st, 2026. The garments echo the logic of the installation: structured yet intuitive, precise yet open-ended. Function is inflected with play, allowing the pieces to move easily between domestic rituals, hosting, and self-expression.
Known for her sculptural treatment of food and material—from butter carvings to bread furniture—Gohar brings this vocabulary into fashion without losing its immediacy. Here, her emphasis on accessibility and collective experience translates into both object and garment, positioning beauty within the rhythms of everyday life.
In this setting, Milan becomes a site of temporary transformation, where distinctions between art, fashion, and environment give way to a shared space shaped by movement, memory, and imagination.
