At Dover Street Market in Paris, the creative duo Clarke & Reilly presented IN/FORM, an exhibition that explores textiles as records of lived time. Created in collaboration with Katie Shillingford and Ben Toms, the project brought together furniture, textiles and photography to trace how materials marked by use, repair and craftsmanship can carry their histories into new forms.
On display in Event Space B2, IN/FORM began with the archive of antique and historic textile fragments held by Clarke & Reilly. The weathering, wear, and repairs became evidence of each material’s journey and the hands that shaped it.
Shillingford first turned the fragments into garments, layering, wrapping and draping them directly onto the body. Toms photographed these fleeting compositions before they were dismantled, after which the textiles were recreated across furniture and domestic objects, including beds, chairs and chandeliers.
