Samuel Ross recasts the daily wellness ritual through Humantra’s PROJECT CARBON

Humantra has joined British designer Samuel Ross and his studio SR_A for PROJECT CARBON, a collaboration connecting hydration with craft, architecture and contemporary design. Launched on September 19, 2026, it introduces CARBON GRAPE, a dark-toned electrolyte flavour inspired by the volcanic landscapes of St Vincent, alongside sculptural glassware hand-blown in South London.

From daily ritual to design object

The project began with an Instagram DM. Ross was already drinking Humantra every day, and a conversation with founder Charlie Wright about the glassware he used grew into a creative partnership spanning flavour, colour, packaging and form.

“This is exactly what I want collaboration to mean at Humantra. Not borrowed relevance. Not two logos next to one another. Genuine mutual appreciation, different perspectives and the ambition to create something that couldn’t have existed without both of us.
I think we’ve done that here.” — Charlie Wright, Founder & CEO, Humantra

Carbon, grape and volcanic landscapes

CARBON GRAPE takes its deep colour from the carbon mineral-rich beaches of volcanic St Vincent in the Caribbean, giving the electrolyte the visual weight of a pigment or raw material.

The accompanying decanters, vases and drinking cups echo the island’s volcanic formations while drawing on London’s architectural language, with references to The Shard by Renzo Piano, the Leadenhall Building by Richard Rogers and the National Theatre by Denys Lasdun. Geological texture, monumental architecture and hand-worked glass converge around an everyday act of hydration.

A new kind of wellness design

For SR_A, PROJECT CARBON considers how functional wellness products can enter the wider vocabulary of contemporary design. Liquid, vessel and packaging operate as one visual language, while Ross frames the project through “world conversions” shaped by necessity, myth, emerging technology and new frontiers.

Yi Ng, Co-Founder and CEO of SR_A, sees the collaboration as an opportunity to apply the studio’s design sensibility to a category traditionally governed by function.

Don’t miss our conversation with Samuel Ross, who talks to us about the relationship between function and emotion in design.
