Innovative and timeless vision, dark and grungy storytelling, bold silhouettes, and asymmetric garments—all are present in Rick Owens‘s character and designs. Now, a new book celebrates Owens’s work in all its multifaceted glory, documented by iconic American photographer Danielle Levitt.
Rick Owens is a fashion icon whose work has evolved over nearly three decades. His designs are known for their grunge-meets-glamour aesthetic, often featuring translucent, flowing forms contrasted with sharp, angular objects captured in structural movement. Owens is also known for his use of new and exotic materials, as well as his bold use of colour.
A comprehensive and richly illustrated survey of the designer’s career will be published in October. Described as an “unabashed love letter”, entitled More Rick Owens, the book will feature visual chronicles of the designer’s collections photographed by Danielle Levitt.
Levitt’s keen eye captures a close-up of grace amid a swirl of contrasts: exotic materials, varied shapes, and a palette of vibrant colours against a backdrop of black. This book, a follow-up to Owen’s previous monograph, also published by Rizzoli, reveals a complex avant-garde aesthetic.
Exploring Rick Owens’ oeuvre, a book proves to be a treasure for those who want to immerse themselves in the thought-provoking designs alongside the photographic masterpieces.
