The Dance Reflection festival began on 19 October with the Opera de Lyon’s presentation of Dance, a 1979 collaboration between Lucinda Childs and Philip Glass. Based on the values of creating, transmitting and educating, it supports artists and institutions presenting modern and contemporary choreography and encourages the creation of new works. Since the fall 2020, Van Cleef & Arpels has been supporting diverse performances at festivals, as well as several companies for their future creations. These partnerships in dance will be accompanied by an important annual event.
The festival Dance Reflection 2023 presents a diverse selection of over a dozen unique performances, accompanied by public dance classes and insightful talks, at seven different venues over the course of two months. Serge Laurent, the festival’s curator, emphasizes the importance of dance as both a form of movement and an exploration of space. The festival will culminate in the eagerly awaited New York premiere of Pina Bausch’s The Rite of Spring, with a cast of 36 African dancers.
You can find the festival program on the Dance Reflection website.
