Armani Archivio: a living legacy of fifty years of style

Giorgio Armani marks an extraordinary milestone with the launch of Armani Archivio, a groundbreaking digital archive unveiled at the Venice Film Festival 2025. Designed as both a celebration and preservation of the house’s most iconic creations, the project opens up fifty years of the designer’s vision to a global audience.

Armani design: fifty years of elegance and consistency

For half a century, Armani design has embodied timeless sophistication and modern ease. Now, through Armani Archivio, the designer’s legacy is made accessible in a living, evolving platform. Visitors will discover not only garments but also sketches, campaigns, and behind-the-scenes materials that trace the evolution of one of fashion’s most coherent and influential languages. The archive begins with 57 carefully selected looks — many of them red-carpet pieces — with new additions planned in the months ahead. Each piece has been meticulously digitised, allowing users to explore the textures, shapes, and codes that define Armani’s approach.

Venice Film Festival 2025: a fitting debut

The project was revealed during a private dinner at the Venice Film Festival 2025, where Armani gowns have long graced the red carpet. The evening also supported UNICEF’s Global Humanitarian Thematic Fund, underlining the designer’s enduring commitment to philanthropy. Guests were introduced to a platform that not only looks back at five decades of creativity but also bridges past and future by making the archive available to new generations.

A global celebration of heritage

Beyond the digital platform, the anniversary is being marked through a series of events and exhibitions worldwide. Exclusive drops of archival garments are scheduled for boutiques in Milan, Paris, and London before traveling to New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, and Beijing. Meanwhile, Milan’s Rinascente will dedicate its windows to Armani Archivio in September, offering a striking visual journey through the designer’s beginnings. Later that month, the Pinacoteca di Brera will host an exhibition of 150 looks, followed by a landmark runway show closing Milan Fashion Week with both men’s and women’s collections.

Armani Archivio positions heritage not as something static but as a living legacy. By inviting the public into its narrative, the house reframes its archive as a tool of rediscovery and inspiration. It is a testament to Giorgio Armani’s belief that consistency creates space for growth — and that true style, once defined, only deepens in meaning with time.
