Artist FUTURA’s first-ever Chicago solo show, ‘FAMILY AFFAIR,’ opens at Anthony Gallery

Anthony Gallery in Chicago proudly presents FAMILY AFFAIR, a deeply personal solo exhibition by artist FUTURA, on view from June 17th to July 26th, 2025. This artist FUTURA show marks his first solo exhibition in Chicago, a city woven into his childhood memories and family roots. “FAMILY AFFAIR is more than an exhibition—it’s a return,” says artist FUTURA, recalling summers with his mother and grandmother. The show pays tribute to his late mother, Billie, on the 50th anniversary of her passing, exploring themes of memory, legacy, and cultural identity.

This artist FUTURA exhibition features new multidisciplinary work, including large abstract paintings and a six-panel hexaptych. A standout piece reimagines a childhood pantry through layered paper collage, blending domestic nostalgia with street-art sensibilities. Another, made from painted skateboards, fuses personal memories with the rebellious visual language of youth. Known for pioneering abstraction in graffiti, artist FUTURA continues to blur the lines between fine art and urban culture.

Represented globally by ICNCLST, artist FUTURA also appears in an interview discussing his creative purpose, his deep relationship with time, and the emotional honesty at the core of his artistic practice.
