Antony Gormley’s latest exhibition, Body Politic, in White Cube explores humanity’s relationship with the man-made environments we inhabit. For Gormley, this exploration is particularly timely as our instinct for shelter clashes with our nomadic tendencies. Through five new art projects, the artist aims to examine and challenge the balance between security and restriction, freedom and discipline. To achieve this, he uses sculptural elements such as silence, stillness and materiality to encourage viewers to consider their own freedom of movement and thought. As Gormley recently stated: Every aspect of this exhibition is a way of assessing and contemplating our current state: who we are at this moment.
