The exhibition ECHO. Wrapped in Memory at MoMu Antwerp explores memories of infancy, childhood and motherhood, ageing and nostalgia, craft and repair, and the physical and emotional memories of clothing.
Exploring the deep connection between clothing and memory, ECHO. Wrapped in Memory examines this relationship through the works of three artists who convey a profound sense of touch and emotion. These individuals include Louise Bourgeois, a renowned artist, Simone Rocha, a celebrated designer, and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, an esteemed choreographer. Three artists from different backgrounds harness the power of nostalgic elements in their creations. Through their distinctive approaches, they incorporate memories associated with clothing and fabrics into their artistic expressions. While their works are based on personal experiences, their impact transcends individual narratives and resonates with different aspects of the human condition.
