From September 23rd to December 13th, 2026, la Galerie du 19M in Paris/Aubervilliers hosts Metamorphoses, the Hats of Maison Michel, an exhibition celebrating one of France’s most renowned millinery houses. Marking nearly a century of exceptional craftsmanship, the show offers a rare look inside the creative process behind Maison Michel’s iconic hats and the artisans who keep its traditions alive.
Free to the public, the exhibition traces the journey of raw materials—from lime wood and felt to ribbon and veiling—into sculptural headwear that combines technical precision with artistic vision. Visitors meet the skilled makers behind each creation, from block makers and straw stitchers to hat makers and milliners, revealing the craftsmanship behind every silhouette.
A rich selection of berets, fascinators, caps, boaters, fedoras, wide-brimmed hats, and spectacular runway pieces created for leading fashion houses highlights the exhibition. By pairing archival works with contemporary designs, Metamorphoses explores the hat as a powerful expression of identity while demonstrating the lasting relevance of traditional savoir-faire.
