A new series, Balenciaga, will premiere on Disney+ in January, chronicling a period in the life of the famous couturier. The series will follow his adventures as he left Spain during the Spanish Civil War and presented his first collection in Paris in 1937. Always a very private man, Balenciaga gave only one interview after his retirement. He avoided fashion shows and some journalists even tried to faint to see him from a distance. The costumes for the series were designed by Bina Daigeler, an Oscar and Emmy nominee. A team of 30 recreated Balenciaga’s embroidery and outfits.
