Fashion exhibition at Azzedine Alaïa Fondation celebrates the couturier’s 2003 collection

The Fondation Azzedine Alaïa in Paris is currently hosting a major fashion exhibition, Azzedine Alaïa, of Sculpted Silence, open from September 12th to November 16th, 2025. This event spotlights the haute couture collection of Summer-Autumn 2003, a pivotal moment in Alaïa’s career that marked his triumphant return after an eleven-year pause. The exhibition offers visitors a rare opportunity to explore the designer’s creative mastery and technical virtuosity.

Alaïa’s sculptural vision and designs

The exhibition presents both haute couture and ready-to-wear models, highlighting Alaïa’s meticulous craftsmanship. Jackets, redingotes, and zip dresses demonstrate a mastery of cut and fabric, while leathers, chiffons, and embroidered shirts reveal the couturier’s sculptural approach to clothing. The collection’s clarity of line and innovative silhouettes illustrate Alaïa’s distinctive vision of femininity, calm yet radiant.

Immersive archival experience

Alongside the garments, the exhibition features archival documents, press clippings, videos, and photographs by Bruce Weber. Weber’s black-and-white images capture the interplay of volumes and textures, reinforcing the sculptural qualities of Alaïa’s designs. Curated by Carla Sozzani, Joe McKenna, and Olivier Saillard, the show emphasizes the intellectual and artistic rigor behind each creation.

This exhibition at the Fondation Azzedine Alaïa stands as a testament to Alaïa’s enduring impact on fashion, the architecture of the body, and the art of dressmaking, reaffirming Paris as a global destination for haute couture and design enthusiasts.
