John Galliano and Zara: rewriting the codes of fashion

Following a two-year absence, John Galliano is returning to the fashion landscape in an unexpected yet compelling collaboration with Zara. The Spanish retailer has announced a two-year creative partnership with the renowned designer, representing a significant step towards establishing a more sophisticated, concept-driven identity.

At the heart of the project is the concept of ‘re-authoring’ — a process in which Galliano will revisit Zara’s archives, deconstructing and reconfiguring past designs to create new seasonal collections. Drawing on his couture sensibility, Galliano will transform familiar garments into reimagined pieces, blending heritage with innovation and introducing new materials and perspectives.

The first collection is set to be released in September 2026, launching a series of seasonal releases that will unfold over the course of the partnership. Each release will reflect Galliano’s distinctive approach to storytelling through clothing, where structure, memory and reinvention intersect.

This partnership signals a shift in Zara’s creative direction, representing more than a traditional collaboration. By inviting a designer renowned for his theatrical vision and mastery of construction, Zara is positioning itself at the intersection of high fashion and accessibility, where archival pieces are not merely revisited but reimagined.
