The divine power that have transcended centuries have been brought to the present day, making it possible for everyone to experience history through beauty. The French perfume and cosmetics house Lancôme has partnered with the Louvre Museum to release a luxurious collection of makeup and skincare products. To create the collection, Lisa Eldridge, Lancôme’s Global Creative Director, drew inspiration from the stories of nine iconic sculptures and the lights and colours of the Louvre Museum.
The Beauty Is a Living Art campaign was shot at the Louvre and features four ambassadors: Zendaya, Aya Nakamura, Amanda Seyfried, and He Cong. Each of them radiates the energy of the sculptures with which they appear in the video, vibrating with their strong and magnetic personalities.
Zendaya stands on the stairs with the Victory of Samothrace, a “messenger of victory,” as the actress says. In another shot, she represents the Venus of Arles, Aphrodite, whose character symbolises achievement and love. Amanda Seyfried embodies the independence and fearless beauty of Diana of Gabii. He Cong is the Venus de Milo, the symbol of perfection and self-confidence that shines in every woman. The Greek poetess Corin takes her place with Aya Nakamura, opening the heart of singularity to the present-day world.
“I am delighted by this debut collaboration with Lancôme, which highlights with incredible talent the diversity of forms of beauty found in the Louvre collections—a dialogue between cultures and civilisations that transcends time and geography,” said Laurence des Cars, President and Director of the Louvre Museum. “Campaign ambassadresses like the Venus de Milo, the Nymph with a Scorpion and the Diana of Gabii are an opportunity for us to transport iconic and inspiring classical images, and to compare and contrast them with contemporary images and canons.”
The Lancôme x Louvre limited edition collection includes: La Palette Richelieu Wing, inspired by the poetess Corine; Absolu Rouge Drama Matte, a lipstick the shades of which embody the characters of the ancient sculptures form the museum; and Sérum Advanced Génifique, a serum that bears the story of the goddess Hygieia.
The collection is available for purchase on the official Lancôme website.
